Meet Pinky. She’s a cute little pitcher, for sure. So rosey and sharp, with her little black details. But Pinky is more than a pitcher to me. Pinky’s the reason ARTrageous exists.

It was 1999 when I attended a children’s pottery party in New Jersey – and I was instantly smitten. I was the only adult who begged to paint a piece too! What great friends Debbie and Steve are! Their reply (“Sure, Karen, paint with the kids”) was the start of a lifelong love, fascination, and devotion to the art and science of making pottery. And that’s the day I painted Pinky.

I keep Pinky in my office now. To remind me of where it all began. To remind me that life can surprise you with unbelievable gifts. And to remind me that everyday events can be the catalyst for epic change. You just never know.

My special thanks to Alexis Bocian-Reperowitz. Your 6th birthday changed my life.
